SUMMER TIME, SUMMER TIME...SUM~SUM~SUMMER TIME.....

I've been cleaning all week. My house is 'entertaining' clean. I should have a party...should. won't. We spend all our free time on the boat or at the pool.

This weekend is a busy one... we have a boat day tomorrow. Sunday we are off to Ravinia to see STING. I am so excited! I love Sting. I can't wait. It's supposed to be really hot, but, he's really hot, so it'll be a hot evening...hehehe

Here's some summer highlights from the boat and the pool for your viewing pleasure.

Jessica and Blain's dog Chunk is such a water dog! He's got the cutest little personality..such a boy!!

So that about sums it up for the moment.

I'll be sure to post after Sting, unless I run off with him.... in that case, it's been nice....

NA NA NANA NA NA NANA...

na na nana na na nana....Batman

Went out on the back porch, noticed something black on the wicker rocker... started to brush it off, and IT WAS A LIVE BAT.
He flinched when I took the picture.

They eat mosquito's right? Well this one is slacking, I just got bitten by one, in my TV room.

With all this vampire crap, the little devil kinda makes me want to put on a turtleneck- ya know?

WHERE TO START....

So, I think I mentioned I went to Houston... had a nice time, in spite of the fact that I killed my computer and it rained the whole damn time. Always nice to be like a regular married couple that the husband heads to work and comes home to the wifey dearest.

We came in on Friday afternoon, and stopped on the way home to 'look' at a new car. We bought it. We had a Mitsubishi Montero, for 11 years...that isn't a typo, I said 11. Actually there really isn't much wrong with it, other than it's old and we are sick of it...kinda....and it has 189,000 miles on it. Truthfully, we've driven it so long, it's like a family member and I feel sorta bad getting rid of it. SORTA... I got a Land Rover/Range Rover. It's got a lot of pretty cool amenities to it. Like a cooler in the center counsel. Seriously, is it legal to drink and drive in England?

It has some other cool things, like windshield wipers that sense the rain (it kinda freaks you out when they just start) and a sensor that tells you if you are too close when you back up. It's a very nice car. I spent an enormous amount of time in it last week. I had to drive 45 minutes to drop off my dead computer on Tuesday, and back 45 minutes to claim it on Wednesday. Thursday I had errands to run and a trip to the airport, so I spent the week familiarizing myself with it...kinda.

Whilst I was gone to Houston, we got the replacement globe to my street lamp. It looks the same, more or less. I don't care for the illumination, but it is what it is.

4th of July weekend was a serious effort in entertaining. We had the kids, beaus and my mom on the boat on Saturday. I spent a small fortune in steak to create shish-ke-bobs to grill for dinner, only to find a crucial part to our grill missing...errrrr..... Sunday, my husband's brother and sister-in-law joined us for a day of sailing, that included our city daughter, her beau and some friends for dinner (the a fore mentioned shish-ke-bobs) and Chicago's fireworks.

Monday, we went to my mom's for a pool/birthday party. My son turned 22..... wow, I feel old.

Last night we saw James Taylor and Carole King in concert. They were FAB. Plain and simple. We've seen James Taylor a couple times before, he was especially good last night. And Carole King- wow.... 'It's too Late' has always been a favorite song of mine- seriously, who didn't have the Tapestry Album????

Back to the boat today. our son and a darling girl joined us, our daughter and her beau and some friends of theirs.. it was perhaps a perfect day. Perfect until the squall hit that is.

Have I mentioned I hate birds...this was a little to 'Bodega Bay'for me today...maybe hate is too strong of a word, I don't really hate them, I'm just terrified of them.

I'm still mourning all that may or may not be missing from my computer. Go right now and back up your stuff. I. SAID. NOW.

I'M BAAACCCCKKKKKKKK.....

Miss me? I got a new hard drive in my computer, so I'm good to go!

I have a ton of things to talk about... like my trip to Houston, 4th of July weekend, my NEW CAR, all the stuff I lost on my hard drive (boo) and I'm sure some other stuff.

But, bear with me, I hurt my wrist and one handed typing is just not working for me.

IT'S A SAD, SAD SITUATION.......

I have bad news. My laptop has died.

I may have killed it. I am a serial killer.

I killed my last laptop, a lovely blue Dell by a harsh scalding death. It was an accident, I poured a cup of coffee on it. I mourned it's loss, it was replaced by another Dell, which wasn't a bad computer, but nothing compared to the MacBook that IT was replaced by. And now we must wait to find out if life support can retrieve my info.

I killed this one by neglect. I think. As it sinks in, I am realizing all the STUFF that's on it. That should have been backed up on the handy little thingy my husband bought me for that purpose. But, silly me, this was a Mac, they are a different breed of computer- they are hardy...maybe not so much.

So, I'm in Houston, on my Ipad (which let me say is a kick ass toy) waiting for the hurricane and having a little pity party that may fester into a grand funk.

Seriously, I need a keeper. I'm taking applications.

Today we are off to Waukegan. It isn't the nicest looking day. Great.

Here's an idea of what's in store.

THERE WAS SOME FUN ON THE WEEKEND....

After the big clean up, we headed into the boat. The sun was out, the day was perfect. We battled the Chicago traffic, and finally were there. Our son, oldest daughter, and her boyfriend headed out onto the lake.

It was a sunny, hot, windy day. ULTIMATE sailing conditions... we had a fabulous time. Here are a few highlights from the afternoon.

My husband, son and I stayed in Chicago that night. We were able to go to the restaurant our daughter works in. This is an upscale Italian restaurant, on the Gold Coast in Chicago, in a FABULOUS Victorian mansion. One word...WOW. What a delicious dinner, great ambiance, tremendous service. We had a great time.

The next day, we sailed up to Waukegan, but that's for another post.....
