Okay, I'm really remiss in my blogging. Not that anything too exciting happened, but, I do have an excuse.

I was busy working, and I didn't feel good. I'll spare you the details of what the steroid did to me, that made me not feel so hot. Suffice to say, unless my life totally depends on it, I'm not taking it again. Even if my ears are useless for anything other than a place to store diamonds, I'm not taking it.

So, on to week two of 'THE CLOSET.' The mess continues, really it grows. Enter the dust- you remember, the old house dust, that I've discussed before.'s back. And we haven't even started the floor yet.

When we had our kitchen done, by an extremely talented friend and woodsman (not the kind in Red Riding Hood, the artist kind), we ran into a dilemma with the microwave. In order for it to be flush above the stove, it needed to be recessed into the wall- so it jutted into the closet, and a corner of the downstairs bathroom. So for a week or two, there was a hole in the wall, that allowed a man to pee and see out to the main road at the same time. Classy? You bet. But, did make for a lot of laughs at the time.

The bathroom wall has been long sealed up, but the closet, well, it was just us and there was sooooo much other work to do, and when do you EVER take your microwave the hole remained.

But not any more.

It's slow going, but, what do you expect when your wife sits on her butt knitting sunflowers watching NCIS reruns and only one person is working on it?

Arty decorating I'm sporting though.....

. So, my little owl is off to the sunny south to begin a new adventure in his life. Hoot Hoot!

That was fun, I however, in typical fashion, didn't win anything... I am just not a winner! (can you hear the violin music here?)

The entries are now closed!! As soon as I figure out the random picker thing, I'll post and email the winner!! Thanks to everyone who commented, and checked out my blog. And a BIG thanks to Lisa for setting the whole thing up!

Was the direct quote from my daughter. What you may ask, was she referring to??? The house. We are ALWAYS in some sort of project here.

If you recall, we redid the kitchen floor a month or so ago, and it looks so fabulous, that the rest of the floors in the house look really shabby. And not shabby chic, shabby... shabby-ick. So we are moving on into the dining room and doing that floor next.

Now, the dining room has a large closet in it- walk in style ala old house. Really almost a small room. Up to this point it housed coats, vacuum, hats, gloves, afghans, purses.. you know, coat closet type stuff. It was kind of a mess, no, really a mess. We pulled out all the contents and threw out a ton of stuff. So my husband, never to do anything 1/2 way is redoing the closet too.
Ah, then there was the closet floor...It had nasty old linoleum on it. The old school kind with a black paper back that doesn't come up very easy when it's been stuck for 50+ years to the know.

So it was a fun filled Sunday afternoon scrapping it and readying it for the sanding of the floor with the dining room...

But first, we must 'California Closet' it. Or more like Lowe's Closet... but you get the idea!! Bet you wish you were me having so much fun.....

So, yesterday, I went to the ENT. I really liked him. However.... long story short, I've had SO many ear infections, I may have permanent hearing loss... great. The ear trumpet could be reality. AND, he put me on a steroid for a couple weeks. Now, I just don't fancy myself with a mustache... not a good look at all on me. If, however, I could look this cute, maybe... but I don't think I'll pull it off with as much finesse....

So after my Dr. appointment, I had to get my prescription filled and my mustache wax so I decided to do a little shopping. I went into Marshall's (love Marshalls and T.J. Maxx). I did after all need a few little Valentine gifts... right? Right. So while perusing the sale rack, I ran across the cutest dresses for my girls- one was $5. and one $7. So, I couldn't wait, and already had picked out other Valentines, so I called my older daughter to come over last night. OMG- it was so cute on her. Then EVERYTHING is. She is just a beauty- honestly, NOT because I'm her mother, but she looks like Reese Witherspoon- check it out... am I not right?????

Then I got dog food, came home and suffered yet another headache and began growing my mustache. Are there still side shows with circuses? Maybe I could sign up.

Not many occur in here in the heartland. But one did last night. I awoke and thought what??? Man the wind is bad, sounds like something's blowing off the house. The dog growled, and the other shifted positions. I looked at the clock and rolled over listening,(with my deaf ears) to see if anyone was breaking in. I fell back to sleep.

Got up this morning, and came downstairs to find the cabinet that houses my antique dolls open... the latch isn't real tight, so it opened. I assume this was caused by the confirmed earthquake that hit here. A 4.3.

However, it could have been something else.... like the 'shiny white lady' my once two year old talked about for years?? The one no one else saw sitting at the desk in the cellar? The one that she was adamant was there, sitting in her long dead great grandmother's desk chair? Oh, that one. So I shut the door to that cellar room for years. Maybe she felt like reclaiming a plaything?

Who's to say???

Valentine's Day that is.... it kinda crept up on me. I don't have cards, any 'treats' for my special people. My husband mentioned on the way to the airport last night that he'd gotten a reservation at one of our favorite local restaurants, and he'd like to get me something....

So, I was thinking, something large and sparkling????? Ah, yes. But, instead I think I'll tell him, that since he ALREADY bought me something large and sparkly I'll forgo a gift this year.

After all, I did get the most kick ass laundry stuff in the world.... and heard the best of all statements...'get what you really want babe.'
Doesn't get much better than that- does it?

My ears are not better. Well, maybe a little, but definitly not right. So, with that bit of happy news, I must see a Ear,Nose & Throat Dr.

Now, bear in mind, I only work 2 days a week. Tuesday and Thursday. I HAD to take last Thursday off to 'receive' my lovely new washer & dryer... so it's only natural that I'd have to take THIS THURSDAY MORNING off to see the ear guy. But honestly, I can't stand it. Someone has to do something.

So, off I am again. I'm going to be so popular with the powers that be. NOT. But, at this rate, I probably won't be able to hear anything they say anyway!!

My new washer and dryer arrived today!!! Whooo hooo!!! I've been doing laundry all day and enjoying it. I'm quite certain this will pass and I'll go back to thinking oh crap, we either have to go buy new underwear or have to do laundry. But for now I'm over the moon.

Here's a little peek at laundry Hades... it's been upgraded from laundry hell... and just like a pair of new shoes necessitates a new handbag, I got a new floor. How could I expect these two beauties to sit on that nasty floor? Really?

not here. Not this week. My washing machine died. Really truly dead. And I'm not mourning it's loss...So my husband and I went off to purchase a new one. One word really only fits here

those babies are expensive. But hell, it's only money, you can't take it with you right? Right.

So I got some pretty fancy stuff for laundry hell. My laundry room is in the cellar of this fine old house- thus the name for it. There are cobwebs, concrete floor, pipes showing, funky other things left undiscussed... you get the idea. So with that said, as I was picking out a stainless steel washer and dryer(because my dryers on it's last legs too), adding in the pedestals and getting the cool steam features I about threw up. I could drive it and not be embarrassed it cost so much. I really did kinda hyperventilate- and my husband kept saying- get what you want, get what you REALLY want....

So, as we left, my husband said, 'well, you got exactly what you wanted'.... not really, I wanted red, but it wasn't offered with all the other cool amenities...but I didn't say that. I mean geesh- I wouldn't want him to never utter those magic words again..
