THANK YOU...

It's Memorial Day. I think too often we forget what these holidays really mean.  We are all so busy in our lives, arranging social engagements, and worrying about the weather.

So let's all take a minute and give thanks to those who unselfishly serve, so we can all live like we do.

Well, it's been a weekend.  My husband, (the oldest pool boy on record) opened my mother's pool on Saturday.  Somehow the poor man has inherited this lovely job.  I do believe on that day, my dad channels through him with some of my dad's favorite phrases.... just saying.  Other than the broken screw,  low water, and typical slime, all appears to be okay.  Time will tell, of course.  Have to give a shout out to Jessica and Blain...

Blain, if you are reading, know that you could inherit this position... but remember, with the good, comes the bad!! It's all that for better, for worse stuff.....

Anyway, with that said, yesterday we headed into Chicago to visit our boat, whom, I'm sure thought we had abandoned it.  We hadn't laid eyes on it since we sailed her down.  Alas, there she was, waiting, not alone however, the spiders had taken care of her.  Lovely.

We enjoyed a sail, after refueling, and hosing off some of the afore mentioned webs.  It was extremely hot here, like 97 hot, but delightful on the lake.

On another unrelated note, my beautiful niece graduated from 8th grade last week.

Seems like just yesterday, we waited with extreme excitement for the very last person to come off the plane from Korea.  Carrying a darling chubby baby, whom we all immediately fell in love with.

Keep 'yer distance boys, my brother-in-law is shinning up his shotgun a sittin' in his rocking chair on the front porch...

(they moved to the country, you know)

ONE DOWN....

TWO to GO....

I had a little engagement soiree for Scarlett and Dan over the weekend.  Just a small affair, to grease the wheels for the big events.

You know, the 2 (count 'em) weddings we have coming up, one of which is here.  Well, not the actual ceremony, but the reception/party portion.  I think I can handle it.  With help, that is, from the cleaning crew, the caterer, and a bartender or two!

So, with out any further ado, I give you a glimpse into fun... Trumpy-style.

....warning (photo heavy).....

I'm always very calm before I entertain.

FABULOUS MOTHER'S DAY....

It really was!

First of all, let me say, I had all three of my kids here for lunch. How cool is that? I tell you, gifts are wonderful, but the gift of having all three of them here at one time... priceless.  Such a great group of kids we have.

They all came bearing gifts and grand dogs (and that's NOT the reason I said they were great, but, okay it does help)

I'm just kidding....

Jessica made me the most beautiful table runner to match my new kitchen.  She is really a talented seamstress.  Scarlett bought me a felted birdhouse that is so adorable, it can not house a dirty bird. It is residing in my kitchen window. And Corbin brought me flowers, in a vase, selected by him.... from his personal collection and did a little light landscaping for me.

And Mark.....  Now ladies, I've long and often told you this man kicks ass at gift giving (most of the time).  He gave me a very cute t-shirt and summer sweater. A nautical look...perfect for an afternoon on the lake. But that, was just the warm up....

In addition to that... he gave me.................... something to die for.... well, if you are me you'd think so.

Two tickets to see my best girl, Barbra in concert in New York City in October.  I am over the moon excited.  It's true... I love her.  Like stalker weird love her. I admit it.  So, how can you beat that?  Babs, the kids, grand dogs and their papa...all rolled into one great sunny day.  Live is good, no, it's great!
